These works involve the removal and fitting of replacement gas metering installations and will normally require the replacement of not only the meter but also regulators and other ancillary equipment and connecting pipework from the Emergency Control Valve (ECV) to the meter outlet valve. We manage the close co-ordination of site visits with the customer and the customer’s representatives as well as EAL’s meter installation partners, all of which are Ofgem Accredited Meter Installers (OAMI’s). As before the gas supplier is central to the industry required data exchanges and EAL manages the provision of data in industry recognised file formats and timescales.
The work will normally require isolation of the gas supply for a period of time, pressure testing of customer pipework and where necessary purging of the downstream system to ensure it is left in safe working order. Where any problems with the downstream systems are identified, EAL will endeavour to work with the customer to overcome the issues and reinstate supply. Should any leaks on customer pipework be identified the service will be isolated and made safe until rectification work has taken place. Any removed meter will normally be taken from the site, unless there are physical constraints preventing this.
Connection works from the outlet side of the replacement metering installation are the responsibility of the customer, but can be undertaken by arrangement (see “Works Downstream of the Meter” below).
